Who are we?

Tenibac-Graphion, Inc. has been on the cutting edge since 1969 with our Texturing, Laser Engraving, and Chemical Engraving Services. We take great pride in the quality of our work and services.

 

We offer engraving of molds and related components from cavity I.D. to the most complex applications. Being highly skilled in such a diversity of engraving technologies allows us to process engraving projects cost effectively, fast, and with unparalleled results.

What do we do?

Laser Etch technology allows us to engrave to depths not attainable legibly through chemical etching and allows us the freedom to produce detailed results never before accomplished.

 

 Applications include engraving & marking of part serialization, date grids and wheels, bar codes, logos, and decorative markings.

 

 Materials we can engrave include, but are not limited to, steel, aluminum, carbon, graphite, brass, copper, and tungsten with various surface finishes.

 

 A rotary axis is used to engrave small embossing rolls, ejector pins and cylinders.

 

Computer-aided control virtually eliminates human error, allowing for precise engraving.

5-AXIS LASER  FAQ

What files are needed for LASER ETCH, and which file formats are acceptable?

For 5-axis applications, 3D files of all parts requiring LASER ETCH are required. For 3-axis applications, 3D drawings are preferred, but 2D drawings are acceptable. .3dm and STEP 214 formats are preferred, but STEP and IGES and most 3D formats are accepted. Please follow up with your LASER ETCH representative to confirm the format you would like to send.

 

What size molds can the laser accommodate?

The mold size may vary, but the maximum 5-axis ablation area is approximately 28″x 28″x 28″ (700 x 700 x 700 mm)

The maximum 3-axis ablation area is approximately 36″x 48″ (900 x 1200 mm)

The maximum weight for LASER ETCH is 3,747 lbs (1700 kg)

 

Can you laser texture on embossing rolls?

Yes. However, the maximum 4-axis area for embossing rolls is determined by combining the overall roll length and roll body diameter.

Please contact our LASER ETCH representative to determine if LASER ETCH is the right application for your roll texturing project.

 

Do you have patterns I can use?

Yes. Tenibac has a large library of industry standard textures and unique patterns from which to choose.

 

What is required to produce a new, custom pattern?

Patterns can be developed from leather, wood, fabric, brush steel, stone and more, utilizing our 3D profiler.

 

What should be done in the case of texture repairs?

Be sure to contact your LASER ETCH representative to discuss any mold damage that involves LASER ETCH. We will be glad to assist you with choosing the best repair solution for your specific situation.

 

Which mold materials work best with LASER ETCH?

Can a mold contain a combination of two or more materials (e.g., P-20 & 420 stainless)?

Yes. Utilizing the accuracy of 3D software, and the precise level of detail achievable by the ytterbium fiber laser, different materials can be isolated for specific LASER ETCH cycles.

 

 

How are texture costs estimated?

Although mold size is a factor, there are many considerations that affect cost: complexity of texture surface, pattern selection, material type, and turnaround requirements are some examples. For the most accurate cost and time estimate, contact your LASER ETCH representative with tooling data.

 

What is the average turnaround for your service?

Turnaround is based on job complexity, number of parts, production schedule at the time an order is placed, and time frame for the delivery of parts. Please contact your Tenibac LASER ETCH representative to discuss your project.
